Simply Metal

(Precious) metals take centre stage in the jewellery objects shown here. Here, too, my aim is to use the material best suited to the design – be it silver, gold, aluminium or brass. This section includes cast rings, elaborate necklaces featuring cast metal parts, as well as flat earrings and brooches.

These works in particular exemplify the “minimalist” approach, often using only a single material. A number of these pieces were created using the drop hammer, a tool employed in the early industrial manufacturing of jewellery. Here I try to integrate ‘calculated chance’ into my process and to see the unexpected as a challenge.
